Using your Field Bag
Shop Field Bags Here
Daggerfish Field Bags are waxed canvas crossbody bags designed for a day in the field. Here's how to get the most out of your bag:
Open with one or two hands
The Field Bag is a zipper-free bag that will never fail to open or close. Its wide-mouth frame can be opened with one or two hands, stays open while you access your gear, and then snaps closed again with just a light touch.
For two-handed opening, pull the grab loops along the top of the bag and pull until the flex frame pops into place. For one-handed opening, slide you hand between the top edges of the bag, then spread your hand open to pop the spring into place.
Use both internal and external storage options
The Field Bag is designed for a day trip, and the 75 cubic inches of storage space inside the bag is enough for a full liter of water, a tackle box, a book and notepad, or other small items.
Outside the bag, MOLLE webbing loops on the front and bottom of the bag create additional options for gear storage. These gear loops are compatible with any product designed for MOLLE webbing, or with clips up to 1.5" wide.
Using our MOLLE Strap Adapters, all Daggerfish Strap Snap accessories for fishing, foraging, and more can be mounted to the outside of the bag.
Using the MOLLE Strap Adapters
To use a MOLLE Strap Adapter, fold the corner of the leather patch over and tuck the corner of the strap adapter through the webbing loop. Spread the corners of the patch out, then snap on any of Strap Snap accessory. MOLLE strap adapters work with all MOLLE webbing or bags with gear loops, and are also useful for mounting Strap Snap accessories over top of a belt loop.
Additional options with the Crossbody Strap
Extra Strap Snap accessories can be mounted on the crossbody strap, using either our standard Strap Snap patches or MOLLE Strap Adapters. The strap can also be removed completely from the bag and used on its own as a crossbody gear strap, using the included leather adapter.
Clean gently, and recoat as needed
With use, your Field Bag will develop a slight patina, and the waxy feel will soften to a velvety texture. Remove superficial dirt with a medium-soft plastic bristle brush, and clean more significant stains gently by hand with light soap and water. Allow to air dry completely before storing.
Cleaning may remove some of the wax coating, but your Field Bag can be recoated indefinitely. Recoating is a simple process that can be performed with a wax paste and common household tools. We recommend Martexin Original Wax, available in our store, and you can follow th instructions in this video from WaterField Designs to recoat your bag.
